  • HELP WANTED!! Help United Through Caring Hands is actively seeking board members with a passion for serving and a passion that aligns with our mission. We seek a few talented and conscientious volunteer board members to lead and strengthen our program to transform lives from poverty and unemployment to self-sufficiency and sustainable careers for women.

  • The board's primary role is to raise funds for the organization's operating budget and leverage networks and contacts to further the organization's mission. However, the board also ensures that the organization is fiscally responsible and accountable and that the leadership is well trained/advised on major decisions.

  • We are specifically looking for leaders who represent POSITIVITY, LEADERSHIP, and DIVERSITY in the following industries: Marketing/Branding, Administrative, Human Resources, Organizational Management, Workforce Development, Career Readiness, Professional Development, Finance (CPA or Banking), Education/Government, Event Planning/Fundraising (Committee Chair) and Corporate Development

  • *This position is a volunteer Board Member position. The average Board term is 1-2 years. The Board meetings are quarterly unless we need an emergency meeting.

Principally, the board manages organizational finances and sets long-term priorities for programs, including the development of projects/initiatives.  Additionally, the Board oversees the Executive Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization.  Overall, the members of the Board contribute the educational, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long-term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year educational excellence for Help United Through Caring Hands, Inc's mission. Mission

Transform lives from poverty, and unemployment to self-sufficiency, and sustainable careers.

The Board of Directors may have up to 8 voting members.  Terms are for 1-2 years.  

Board Member responsibilities include attendance at regular board meetings that average 4 times per year. There may be sometimes where the board may need to hold additional meetings.  Board members also hold fiduciary responsibility for management of organizational capital and ensuring appropriate filings with federal, state, and local authorities consistent with the organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The attendance policy allows for removal if one consecutive meeting is missed without notice.

Declaration of Candidacy

Board positions require time and energy commitment that should not be underestimated.  Candidates are urged to consider personal priorities for the next year or two as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the organization.

Meetings:

  • Board Meetings- quarterly

  • Committee Work

  • Community Events

  • Annual Meeting

  • Annual Fundraiser- board participation needed/required

Donations:

As with any Board, members will be solicited for a cash or in-kind donation; 100% participation is sought; the amount is optional, but we ask that board members consider giving at a leadership level. Board members should maintain an active membership status during their term.
